The evening opens with Psalm 42: “Wie der Hirsch schreiet”\, a deeply intimate reflection on longing and faith. It is followed by the monumental Lobgesang (Symphony No. 2)\, a powerful fusion of symphony and cantata composed in celebration of the invention of printing. Biblical texts and chorales lead the music from darkness into jubilant praise.
